Carl Edward Jobst, the oldest of three children of Adolph Wilhelm John Jobst and Ida Norine Elizabeth Scar was born in Madison County near Earlham on November 25, 1916 in Earlham, Iowa. He died on October 11, 2005 at Winterset Memorial Hospital.
While attending Earlham High School he earned the nickname of "Joker" for his practical jokes and also participated in the Drake Relays in 1935. After graduation he helped his Dad in farming.
