I purchased these but haven't had a chance to use them as part of my collection. Please note that due to the nature of the wood, there may be some scuffs and minor scratches. Each piece has its own unique character, so you won't find anyone else with the same one, which is highly recommended. These are rarely available on the market and are quite rare. This time, it's a great deal with a set of two.

Here's the description:
The wood used is "Ise Hinoki" (Ise Cypress). Hinoki grown in the sacred area of Ise Jingu Shrine since the Taisho era is called "Ise Hinoki." This writing instrument uses thinnings from the process of growing the trees. It was used as building material for the shrine buildings in the Shikinen Sengu (rebuilding of the shrine).

*The main pillars of the Ise Jingu Shrine are made of 400-year-old Kiso Hinoki trees with a diameter of 1 meter, and the number of these trees is decreasing, making it a serious problem to secure the wood for the Ise Jingu Shrine's Shikinen Sengu. In response to this, Ise Hinoki began to be cultivated in the sacred area of Ise Jingu Shrine.
These are ballpoint pens made from truly precious sacred wood!

■ About Mokumoku Kobo
This is a handmade pen workshop located in Ise City, Mie Prefecture.
Moku (杢) ... The pattern of the wood is written as one character, Moku.
Just as no two people have the same face, no two pieces of wood have the same pattern. They create writing instruments that give new life to trees that have unfortunately fallen due to disasters or have been felled, allowing everyone to use them. They are engaged in creative activities, searching for an exit from the forest for each tree.
