The Tumi is a type of ceremonial knife used in Ancient Peru by the Moche, Chimu and Inca cultures. Is typically formed by a single metal part. Tumi handle has a rectangular or trapezoidal shape. The pre-Columbian Andean art (especially the Moche art) clearly shows the beheading of prisoners with tumis.

It is known that the ancient Peruvians healed their wounded with (common in war, he used the blunt maces as their primary weapons) severe head injuries practicing cuts and removing the damaged part of the skull (cranial trepanation). These operations often allowed the wounded on living, as evidenced by archaeological evidence of trepanned skulls found mainly in the southern Peruvian coast.
