Gastonia burgei Nodosaur skull replica- Ankylosauria-dinosaurs-paleontology

Gastonia was a herbivore in the family  polacanthinae and was  related to dinosaurs like the Ankylosaurs, only it lacked a tail club and had its shoulders and  the perimeter of its body covered in long spikes. When under attack from a predator this dinosaur would probably have hunkered down in a defensive squatting position to protect it's belly and thrust the spikes on its sides at attackers. Original specimen was found in the Cedar mountain formation of Eastern Utah and is early Cretaceous in age.
