Brass & Silver Jewelry Casket / Box, German Erhart & Sohne, Cherubs, c. 1900 music box . Beautiful Gold/Silver music box with Cherubs & Fleur de lis designs all around. Red velour lining and a small compartment to hold rings/earrings. The music box itself plays a 2.28 note tune. The melody is Claire de Lune & The Blue Danube Waltz. A picture inside the image shows a detail from a vintage musical jewelry box, featuring a reproduction of "Gathering in a Park" (1720) by French Rococo painter Jean-Baptiste Pater:
Jean-Baptiste Pater (1695-1736) was a student of Antoine Watteau and known for "fêtes galantes," scenes of elegant gatherings in park settings.
