Original 19th century carte de visite photograph dating to approximately 1865–1875. This portrait features a well-dressed gentleman with a distinctive long beard, photographed in three-quarter profile. Published by Cleveland & Wickes, with studio locations listed in Jacksonville, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri. The ornate advertising back advertises “Portraits in Crayon and Carbon,” a desirable detail for CDV collectors.

Albumen photograph mounted on original card stock. Condition is very good for age, with even toning, light edge wear, and minor age-related spotting consistent with a photograph over 150 years old. No cracks, bends, or major damage.

A strong example of post–Civil War era portrait photography with regional studio identification, ideal for collectors of Victorian photography, CDVs, Illinois or Missouri history, or antique portraiture.
